GABA tea is a very special tea that is processed in a very special way. The defining step of it’s processing is the withering, which is done in a complete vacuum. As a result of this, a naturally occurring relaxant in our brains called GABA increases in the tea too. Because of this, there are many scientific claims assigned to GABA tea. But resent scientific studies have shown that it is not possible for the GABA in tea to effect the GABA in our brains.
Anyway… we just really enjoy drinking GABA tea, and we like to do that for it’s own purpose. From our own experience we do notice that GABA has a special effect that stands out form other teas, in that it brings great relaxation and sometimes a comfortable drowsiness. ‘Jin Hao’ is a great tea to drink in the evening, but can definitely be enjoyed during the day too! It is very relaxing, soothing, easy to brew and very rewarding in unique flavors and aromas.
This open leaf GABA has been produced by farmer Yu San He in Pinglin, Taiwan and grows at an altitude of 800-1000 meters. All his teas are organically grown in bio-diverse surroundings.
